Founded in 2007 and based in Connecticut, we specialize in the design, sales, programming, and installation of residential A/V systems in Fairfield County and the surrounding area.

DAVID WOODWARD
PRESIDENT
David Woodward is the President of Home Media Designs, a position he has held since founding the company in 2007. With over 40 years of industry experience, David has demonstrated his expertise in Audio/Video and network engineering, sales & management. Prior to starting this company, he served as Sales Manager at Integrated Electronics and Sounds Incredible. David’s educational background includes studies at Brookfield High School, Waterbury State Technical College, and Western Connecticut State University.
David has industry-specific training and certifications from numerous manufacturers including Lutron, Elan, Control4, Access Networks, Araknis, Bowers & Wilkins, Sony, Rotel, Sonance, Stewart Film Screen, Denon, Sonos and others. Based in Ridgefield, Connecticut, David has built a reputation for delivering unparalleled customer service and high level technological solutions.
His passions include Motorsports racing and high performance driver coaching as well as mountain biking, trail building, and maintenance.


CHRIS BARRE
Sales Manager
Chris Barre is a seasoned professional in Residential and Commercial AV Integration focusing on New Business Development, System Design and Sales. With an extensive background in the AV industry, Chris has deep relationships with industry professionals and small business networks in Connecticut. Chris is passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technology solutions that align with clients needs and enhance their user experience.
Chris appreciates well-designed Computer Network and Wi-Fi systems, While not as glamorous as a custom home theater, a great network and Wi-Fi system are the technology backbone of the home, supporting and enhancing the sophisticated technology present in today’s homes. He’s passionate about working with clients and creating thoughtful systems that exceed their expectations.
Outside of the office, Chris is a musician, playing a variety of instruments and performing live from time to time.
PJ Mihalick
GENERAL MANAGER
As a passionate manager and lead technician, PJ finds immense joy in working with cutting-edge technology. His favorite piece of tech is the Sonos Arc soundbar. It not only delivers great sound but also looks fantastic in any setup, making it a perfect blend of performance and aesthetics.
In his job, the aspect he enjoys the most is seeing a client’s excitement about their new or improved system. It’s incredibly rewarding for him to witness their enthusiasm and satisfaction, knowing that he has helped enhance their tech experience.
A fun fact about him is that he loves breaking and fixing two-wheeled vehicles. It’s a hobby that combines his passion for mechanics and his love for a good challenge. Whether it’s a motorcycle or a bicycle, he enjoys the process of taking things apart and putting them back together, always learning something new along the way.
Laurie Haferl
Office Manager
As the Office Manager, Laurie’s duties include overseeing the office administration, managing daily operations, and coordinating with staff to ensure a smooth workflow. One of the things she enjoys is interacting with customers and ensuring they have a positive experience.
She has been a member of the Home Media Designs team for over a decade and looks forward to many more years.
Paul Alliot
LEAD TECHNICIAN
As a dedicated technician, Paul thrives on the challenge of working on intricate custom AV projects. Whether it’s setting up the latest tech hardware or ensuring seamless connectivity, he is in his element. One of his favorite pieces of tech is probably OLED technology in televisions. The picture quality is so stunning that it still catches him off guard sometimes. It’s a testament to the incredible advancements in display technology.
When he’s not busy with installations, you’ll find him testing new speakers. He loves exploring the nuances of sound and finding the perfect audio setup to enhance any environment. And just to clear up a common misconception: Contrary to popular belief, buffalo wings are not, in fact, made from the wings of the mighty buffalo. It’s always fun for him to share a bit of trivia while working on a project!
Frank Silvi
LEAD TECHNICIAN
With a BS in the Recording Arts from Full Sail University specializing in audio engineering, Frank has been immersed in the integration industry since November 2015. Over the years, he has honed his skills and developed a deep passion for advanced programming, particularly with sensors and accessories integrated into Control4 systems.
He holds several certifications that highlight his expertise in the integration industry. These include Control4 for automation programming and advanced lighting systems, Lutron for Ra2 Inclusive, Ra3, and Palladiom shades, and SAVI 3 for digital video distribution and signage. Additionally, he is certified in Crestron Home and holds the Araknis PCNA (Professional Certified Network Administrator) certification. These credentials reflect his commitment to staying at the forefront of technology and delivering top-notch solutions to his clients.
His favorite part of the industry is the opportunity to work on advanced programming with sensors and accessories into Control4. It’s incredibly satisfying for him to create seamless, intelligent environments that enhance the user experience.
AARON CRUMLEY
LEAD TECHNICIAN
As a Lead Technician at Home Media Designs, Aaron focuses on installing and maintaining networks lighting control systems and A/V equipment. Aaron is always available to provide ongoing support for clients. His technical responsibilities range from planning and design to the configuration of systems, however, he gets most enjoyment from troubleshooting and solving network issues. Though passionate about all home technology, he has an affinity for his PC. According to Aaron, it’s the most powerful tool in a technician’s arsenal, as it’s used to program various systems. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities like paddle boarding, river, rafting, and mountain biking.
PHIL NIESZ
LEAD TECHNICIAN
Phil is responsible for installing and configuring home networks AV systems and home automation systems. One of the most rewarding parts of Phil’s job at Home Media Designs is showing clients how to operate their new systems and seeing how excited they are to use them. Phil’s favorite piece of home technology is remotely managed network routers, as a great router manages the entire network information in a home. Using remote management, he can help clients with issues without ever leaving the shop! In his free time, Phil enjoys watching his daughter, an avid equestrian, ride.
